Premier League’s fight for the top-four is intensifying, as three clubs are currently in the race to achieve their Champions League goals ,for next season.
With Manchester City’s ban overturned, it will be a fascinating last couple of game weeks for the Premier League in terms of the race for top-four. Man City and Liverpool both have secured their Champions League berth next season, but Chelsea, Manchester United and Leicester all are tightly packed in the next three places and only two can achieve the Champions League spots.
And according to BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson, Chelsea and Manchester United are in advanced positions to finish in the ultimate race as winners, and he thinks that Leicester will have to remain content with Europe League spot.
While speaking to BBC, Lawrenson said, “I’m backing United and Chelsea to edge out Leicester and both finish in the top four in the league.”
The London club have remained in 3rd place courtesy of loss for Leicester against Bournemouth and a draw for Man United against Southampton. Chelsea are on 63 points, while both Leicester and Manchester United are on 62 points, Leicester with a better goal difference means they sit at 4th.
One of the key games in the top-four race will be Manchester United’s clash away to Leicester City on the final day of the campaign on Sunday 26 July. Also, they will be hosting West Ham United, who secured their Premier League hopes with a huge win against Watford on Friday. The Foxes will travel to Tottenham before hosting Manchester United.
Chelsea, on the other hand, have Liverpool away while they finish the league season ,with a home game against Wolves.
So it will be premature to rule out any club at this moment as the dynamics of the ,Premier League can change very rapidly. Manchester United and Chelsea will also lock horns against each other in the FA Cup Semi-Finals on Saturday, while Arsenal face Man City in the other match.
