The duo of Nigerian International forward, Ahmed Musa and Former Super Eagles defender, Celestine Babayaro were once managed by Watford new manager Claudio Raneri during their playing time at Leicester City and Chelsea respectively.
English Premier League based Club-side, Watford announced recently that they have appointed, Claudio Raneri as the new manager of following the sack of former Watford manager Francisco Xisco.
Watford new manager, Claudio Raneri will be faced with the task of managing, Super Eagles trio of William Troost Ekong, Oghenkaro Etebo and Emmanuel Dennis Bonnaventure who ply their trade at the English Premier League based Club-side but the veteran Italian Coach is no new comer in managing Nigerian players as he has previously managed some Nigerian players much earlier in his football coaching career.
Here's a look at two Nigerian players that have previously been managed by Coach Claudio Raneri;
1) Celestine Babayaro;
Former Nigerian Defender, Celestine Babayaro who featured for Chelsea FC from 1997-2005 was managed by Claudio Raneri, at some point of his football playing career at Chelsea FC.
Celestine Babayaro was a first team member of Coach Claudio Raneri's side while the veteran Italian Coach was the manager of Chelsea FC.
Claudio Raneri took up the job as manager of Chelsea FC in 2001 before he was eventually sacked in 2004 and replaced by Jose Mourinho.
2) Ahmed Musa;
Nigerian International Ahmed Musa was signed up by Leicester City on the 8th of July, 2016 during the reign of Claudio Raneri as manager of Leicester City.
The duo of Claudio Raneri and Ahmed Musa however didn't enjoy a long term relationship at Leicester City as Claudio Raneri was sacked by the club management of Leicester City in February, 2017, nine months after guiding Leicester City to an English Premier League title.
