The Super Eagles is the official senior national team of Nigeria.It has brought about great footballers,the likes of Nwankwo Kanu,Jay-Jay Okocha,Rashidi Yekini,of blessed memory, etc.But there are footballers who has Nigerian roots,but are not representing Nigeria at the senior level,some are as follows.

5)Manuel AkanjiManuel Obafemi Akanji is a Swiss professional footballer who currently plies his trade in Germany with Borussia Dortmund as a central defender.Manuel Akanji was born on the 19th of July, 1995 to a Nigerian father and a Swiss mother.He said Nigeria never called him and Switzerland offered him a chance to play for the national team and he was left with no other option,than to play for Switzerland.

4)Angelo OgbonnaAngelo Obinze Ogbonna was born on the 23rd of may,1988,to Nigerian parents who travelled to Italy from Nigeria in 1988.Angelo Ogbonna currently plies his trade with West Ham United in England as a central defender and plays for the Italian National team.

3)David AlabaDavid Olatukunbo Alaba was born on the 24th of June, 1992,He was born to a Filipino mother and a Nigerian father in Vienna,Austria. He actually said he wanted to play for Nigeria, but there was no formal approach for him.David Alaba plays for German champions Bayern Munich,where he plays as a versatile defender,he can play as both a center back and a left-back.He currently plays for the Austrian national team.

2)Ross BarkleyRoss Barkley was born on the 5th of December, 1993 to a Nigerian father,Peter Effanga and an English mother,Dianne.His parents are divorced and he stayed with his mother after the divorce, this played a big role in him deciding the country, he will play for.He currently plays for English giants,Chelsea as a midfielder and plays also for the English National team.

Dele AlliBamidele Jermaine Alli was born on the 11th of April,1996,in England,to Nigerian parents who are divorced.He reportedly said he doesn't want anything thing to do with his parents,as they are not in good terms.He currently plays in Tottenham Hotspur, where he is regarded as one of their best players.He plays for the English national team.
