Meet The Fastest Woman In Norway Who Is Igbo By Tribe (Photos)

Ezinne Okparaebo is a 33-year-old Norwegian professional athlete of Igbo descent who specializes in track and field events.

Born on 3 March 1988 in Imo State, Nigeria, Ezinne relocated from Nigeria to Norway at the age of nine. She was bred in Ammerud, Norway, where her athletic talents was discovered by talent hunters on a sports school day in the Scandinavian country.

In 2005, Okparaebo surprised the Norwegian sprinters by becoming the best sprinter in Norway at the age of 17. She took part for the first time in the Youth Olympics in Lignano, Italy, where she came third in 100 metres. In the same year, she won the golden medal over 100 metres in the Norwegian National Championships.

Since then, Ezinne has always maintained the position of being the top female sprinter in Norway, and has won several international laurels for the country, including a silver medal at the 2009 European Indoor Championships in Turin, Italy, gold medal at the 2012 IAAF Diamond League in Oslo, Norway, and gold medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, England.

Ezinne is currently the fastest woman ever in Norway. She holds the Norwegian national records over 60 metres and 100 metres and has won the 100m nationals 13 times.

This Igbo lady has two sisters, Chiamaka and Angelica, who are also athletes.
