Why Haaland is no longer frequently linked with Barcelona

Tons of transfer updates regarding Barcelona have been emerging in recent weeks. The club is working on signing players next year, especially attackers. But Erling Haaland's name has lost its prominence in the Spanish club's transfer news. It seems the Catalans' interest in the striker is receding.

At the moment, top clubs' interest in Haaland is not that very strong. This has put Barcelona in a good position to get the 21-year old. Nevertheless, there are some reasons why the Dortmund star is no longer frequently linked with a move to Camp Nou.

Hernandez is already making his intentions known at Barcelona in terms of transfers. The new manager wants to work with wingers. And the club have eyes on Raheem Sterling and Dani Olmo as their top priorities.

Either Memphis Depay or Ansu Fati will likely take the centre-forward role if any winger arrives. Both players are reliable goalscorers who keep making Barcelona forget Haaland.

Karim Adeyemi

In the last few weeks, Karim Adeyemi's name has been gaining ground at Barcelona. The 19-year old has been consistent in front of goal this season.

Unlike Haaland, whose transfer will demand a huge fee, Adeyemi is valued at €20 million, according to Transfermarkt. This is a fee Barcelona can afford for a player who has already scored 15 goals this season.

Haaland's transfer bonus

Due to financial limitations, Barcelona couldn't sign Haaland this year. But things could even get more complicated when looking at the cost of signing the striker.

There are some bonuses that are tied to signing the Norwegian. Apart from the transfer fee Dortmund will be paid, Haaland's father and his agent Mino Raiola want their own separate commissions. They both want €20 million each. This has lowered Barcelona's interest in the striker.
