Eden Hazards' fitness continues to be a regular issue for Real Madrid, despite claims that his injury issues are behind him. The Belgian alternates between training with the squad normally and working on his own on a daily basis, and on Friday he was working separately, which suggests he won't be involved in the Champions League clash with Shakhtar Donetsk.
Tests were carried out on Hazard to rule out a muscle injury as a result of his Nations League participation with Belgium, which confirmed that he was simply suffering from cramps and muscle fatigue against Italy.
Los Blancos have been so careful with Hazard all season and there must be an element of frustration that they now have to wait more for his availability. There is a real fear that he is so fragile at this point that an injury could occur at any time, and Carlo Ancelotti himself has even said playing the 30-year-old in successive matches is not an option at this stage.
With the first Clasico of the season on the horizon on October 24, Hazard will need to be vigilant if he is to be fit enough to play in this game. Since joining the club in 2019, Hazard has never actually been in a Clasico, with an injury keeping him on the sidelines for every clash with Barcelona.
