Ozil begs fans after losing first derby with Fenerbahçe

Former Arsenal player, Mesut Ozil who recently joined his childhood club, Fenerbahçe has taken to Twitter to offer an apology after losing to Galatasaray on Saturday.

Fenerbahçe was defeated by 1-0, with the goal coming less than 10 minutes into the second half.

The goal came through Egyptian player, Mostafa Mohamed at the 54th minute, and he was assisted by E. Kilinc.

Ozil made his first derby for Fenerbahçe after being brought in at 63rd minute to replace Mert Hakan Yandaş.

However, the German could not salvage a draw for his club and has apologized to the fans.

Ozil wrote, “I wish my first derby with my team ended differently, we are very sorry for the result last night.

“But I came to Fenerbahçe to win great victories and trophies with my teammates and fans. Our path is long and hopefully, the championship will end well.”
