The Women's Super League season is moving gradually to an end with much pressure on Defending Champions, Chelsea Women as they keep winning their games.
After beating Everton Women by 7-0, Chelsea Women never relented in their quest to defend the title this season. The London Women, host Leicester City Women to a total humiliation in front of their teeming fans on Wednesday night. Gurro Reiten opened scoring for Chelsea in the 8th minute of action to provide an easier route for their attacking prowess as they quickly put the visiting Leicester City under pressure. Cuthbert doubled Chelsea's lead 10 minutes later to make it 2-0, following their dominance in the game. Harder crowned her effort with a goal after assisting Reiten on the first goal. She scored her first goal in the 32nd and completed her brace 10 minutes later to make it 4-0 at halftime for Chelsea Women. Lauren James made all the difference for Chelsea Women in the second half by making it 5-0 for Chelsea, giving them every attention needed for the defence of title. Jelena Cankovic scored Chelsea's 6th goal from the 18th yard to bury the game in stoppage time for Chelsea as they grabbed the very important points.
Arsenal Women enliven their hope of playing in the UEFA women's champions league next season by beating their Host Brighton Women in their 19th game of the season. Stina Blackstenius shocked Brighton Women with an early goal in the 6th minute and just before some spectators took their seats, the striker doubled Arsenal's lead 2 minutes after, to make it 0-2. Frida Maanum came through with Arsenal's 3rd goal in the 39th minute through a blended header while Victoria Pelova's strike made it 0-4 for the visiting Arsenal Women at halftime. Arsenal Women were held by the Brighton Women in the second half to a Goalless outing but the deed had been done in the first half with a vital 3 points made possible by 4 whopping goals.Chelsea Women climbed to the 2nd spot with 46 points, trailing Leader, Man United Women by a single point and with a game in hand. Arsenal Women's hope has finally worked for them as their victory away in Brighton put them on the 3rd spot after chasing Man City Women away to the 4th spot.
