Chelsea Women returned to action in the Barclay Women's Super League today as they welcomed Leicester City to the Cherry Red Records Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Blues were looking to stretch their winning run in the competition this season by defeating Leicester City in today's crucial and intense encounter.
Chelsea were brilliant in the first half of the match as they created a few goalscoring chances to find the back of the net. Leicester City Women were a hard nut to crack as they defended well in the first half preventing Chelsea from scoring a goal. Both sides eventually played a goalless draw in the first half of the match.
The game drew even more intense in the second half as both sides were looking to grab a win from their today's encounter. Chelsea Women hard work in the match eventually paid off as they opened the scoring in the 83rd minute through Pernille Harder's lovely effort to make the scoreline 1-0. Firan Kirby wrapped things up in the last minute of the fixture as she found the back of the net to make the final scoreline 2-0 in favour of Chelsea.
Chelsea Women showed pure determination in today's match as they fought really hard to claim this important win over Leicester City. The Blues have been consistent in the competition so far winning games as they come. Chelsea women are currently 3rd on the Women's Super League table with 12 points after five matches played. The Blues possess this great virtue of determination which could help them in their fight for the Women's Super League title this season.
