Barça defender joins french club OGC Nice

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona has agreed to sign French centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice. They'll pay €8.5 million for him, with the price potentially rising to €15.5 million depending on the circumstances. Barcelona did not include a buy-back clause in the agreement, but did retain a portion of any future sales.

Todibo moved to Barcelona from Toulouse in the middle of the 2018/19 season for just €1 million. However, he failed to persuade Ernesto Valverde and Ronald Koeman, and was loaned out to Schalke and Benfica, none of whom were successful. He appeared in eight games for the former and not a single game for the latter.

Last winter, he joined Nice on loan and played 15 games for the French club, becoming a major figure and even captaining the team in a match against Strasbourg. Nice hailed Todibo's arrival in a statement, emphasizing his ability to bring the ball out of the back and command the defense.
