Opinion: Why Marcus Rashford is the player Solskjaer needs right now

Before the start of the 2021/2022 campaign, it was expected that Man Utd would launch a genuine Premier league title challenge considering the high profile players Solskjaer signed during the Summer transfer window which includes Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho. However, Man United have had an underwhelming start to the season and if things continues like this, they may not even make it to the top four (4) which would ultimately cost Solskjaer his job as Man United Manager. Solskjaer seemed to have used all the quality players he has at his disposal to turn things around but all to no avail. However, Marcus Rashford have been on the sidelines for almost 10 weeks being that he underwent a shoulder surgery and wasn't fit to play.

Here are some reasons why Marcus Rashford could make a difference to Solskjaer's lineup.

1. His constant threat down the left wing

Due to Rashford's absence at the beginning of the season, Solskjaer have deployed Paul Pogba and Jadon Sancho at the left wing. These players have been dangerous at times but not as dangerous as the threat Marcus Rashford poses from the left wing. He poses a unique threat from the left wing and causes the opposition too much problems which shows how outstanding Rashford is to Solskjaer.

2. His records against the Premier league's Big Six

Once the International break is over, Man United have series of hard fixtures which includes Leicester, Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal . Marcus Rashford have been known to be a big game player and his records speak for themselves. Marcus Rashford has five (5) goals against Leicester, Liverpool and Chelsea, each. He also has four (4) goals against Man City.

These statistics shows how much of a valuable asset Marcus Rashford is to Man United and Solskjaer especially in big games.
