Solskjaer says De Gea should have save Mount goal as Man Utd boss fires warning after Chelsea defeat

Solskjaer says De Gea should save Mount goal ‘100 times out of 100’ as Man Utd boss fires warning after Chelsea defeat.

De Gea has endured a struggling campaign this seems for United and his form came under the spotlight as a result of Roy Keane's rant following his error during Manchester United's first game following project restart against Tottenham Hotspur , De Gea made an error leading to a goal which cost United the win.

This came after a series of errors earlier in the season against Crystal Palace , Watford , Arsenal, and Everton .

This error spell, like last season, resulted in calls from fans for Dean Henderson to be made Manchester United's first choice goalkeeper.

De Gea was at fault again for two of Chelsea’s goals as United bullied to a 3-1 semifinal defeat at Wembley on Sunday evening.

De Gea failed to keep our Olivier Giroud's opener just before half-time, with the ball trickling over the line at a snail’s pace.

The Spaniard then produced a weak-palmed save to turn Mason Mount’s effort in moments into the second half.

Harry Maguire’s own goal condemned United to defeat against a motivated Chelsea side.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær backed De Gea saying, "one day [Henderson will] be England's and United's Number 1" but De Gea is currently "the best goalkeeper in the world".

If this FA Cup semi-final was a disaster for David De Gea, it was also an absolute shocker for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

He insisted De Gea should have saved Mount’s long-distance shot “100 out of 100 times.”

Ole said:

Reflecting on how the game went, Solskjaer added:

Man Utd manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says he will stick with goalkeeper David de Gea, despite his latest errors

Manchester United have been eliminated from the FA Cup by Chelsea for a sixth time (including three of the last four seasons) – only Arsenal (7) have knocked the Red Devils out of the competition on more occasions.

Frank Lampard says there is "more to come" from Chelsea who plan a busy summer in the transfer market

Chelsea are the first side to beat Manchester United since Burnley in the Premier League back in January, ending United’s 19 game unbeaten run in all competitions.
