Ballon D'or 2021: France Football reportedly leaks 3 players shortlisted for the prestigious award

The France football committee has reportedly leaked the three nominees for the Prestigious Ballon D'or award. The initial date for the revelation of the nominees was set aside for October 8 but unfortunately it was leaked before time.

The Ballon D'or award or golden ball is an award given by the France football committee to the best player of the calendar year.

The committee has set aside November 29 as the Gala day.

The award ceremony was called off last year due to the coronavirus pandemic that took place but this year's edition is sure to take place.

Among a host of performers last season, Leo Messi, Robert Lewandowski and Jorginho Frello has been nominated by the committee for the prestigious award. All three has had a year to remember. 2021 saw Jorginho win 3 UEFA trophies within the space of three months.

August also saw him clinch the UEFA Player of the year award ahead of team mate, Ngolo Kante and Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne.

Robert Lewandowski on the other hand had an individual season to remember. The season saw him break the late Gerd Muller's record for goals scored in a single Bundesliga season. He ended last season with 41 goals to his name and the Bundesliga title. An injury kept him out of Bayern's Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain which resulted to their elimination. Overall, Lewandowski was excellent and should be compensated for his 2019/2020 season after the 2020 edition of the award was called off.

Leo Messi definitely had a great year if not the best in his career. He revealed over the years that he would trade his club trophies for an international trophy with the Argentina national team. 2021 saw Messi's wait for an international trophy come to an end. He produced one of the best individual performances in an official tournament. The tournament saw him walk home with the player of the tournament award as well as the top scorer award. He also bagged the highest assists, dribbles and chances created.

He earlier won the Copa Del Rey with Barcelona and was on the verge of winning the La liga but poor management costed him. Overall, he has had and is still having a brilliant 2021.

Who are you backing to go home with the award?
