Tottenham Hotspur will face a tough battle against Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday. Spurs were beaten 3-0 by Crystal Palace in their previous league encounter, and a week that began with them in first position ended with them in seventh. They have nine points, one fewer than Chelsea, who are joint-top going into this encounter.
Tottenham has a number of injuries and absentees for this match, and their dismal 2-2 draw with Rennes in the Conference League does not instil confidence. Son Heung-min is still out with a calf injury, while Eric Dier, who was taken off early in the defeat to Crystal Palace, is also absent.
Spurs have conceded five goals in their previous two games alone, while three of their last five games have yielded over 2.5 goals. They haven't won in the Premier League in the last five encounters with Chelsea.
Chelsea are yet to lose this season and have won four of their first five games. In their last five games, they've kept four clean sheets and scored two or more goals in three of them, while conceding just one goal. Only Christian Pulisic, who is out due to medical reasons, is missing from the Blues' lineup.
Reece James is back after missing the win over Aston Villa, and he played full time against Rennes, so he should be fit for this game. Romelu Lukaku continues to shine for Chelsea, scoring the game's only goal in a 1-0 victory over Zenit. He now has four goals in as many games for the Blues.
Chelsea have only lost once in 11 Premier League away games, a 2-1 loss to Aston Villa in the season finale, and they have five clean sheets in those 11 games.
Tottenham are battling with a slew of injuries and absences as a result of isolation and suspension. Harry Kane, their star, hasn't been firing lately, and it'll be even more difficult against Chelsea, who are in fine form.
Since Spurs haven't won many of their current league matches against Chelsea, I'm backing Chelsea to win this one. The match will be played on Sunday at 4:30 PM Nigerian time.
