GOAL MACHINES: The Number Of Goals Osimhen Needs To Match Yekini As All-time Super Eagles TOP Scorer

It seems just like yesterday when a very young and talented Victor Osimhen was named to the squad of the Nigeria under-17 team that won the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile.

From that moment when many of us saw the potential of that kid, we knew Nigeria had finally found the one true goal scorer we desperately craved for.

Osimhen won the Golden Boot and Silver Ball awards at the tournament and his performances were so good, it earned him the CAF Youth Player of the Year award in 2015.

Since then, the youngster has grown from strength to strength and his development have been nothing short of incredible.

Little surprise he's currently regarded as one of the best strikers in the world, leading the attacks of Napoli and that of the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Yesterday, in Nigeria's crucial World Cup 2022 qualifiers against Cape Verde, Osimhen scored his 10th goal for the Super Eagles in just 18 appearances.

His efficiency and lethal finishing ability has seen him reach double figures in goals for the Super Eagles in just 18 matches.

At this rate, all Osimhen needs to do is be maintain consistency and hope he's lucky to stay physically fit for the next 8-10 years and he will easily match and break Rashidi Yekini's great record as the all-time top scorer of the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

The great Rashidi Yekini was so lethal in front of goal, he scored an incredible tally of 37 goals in just 58 appearances. That is on average, 0.63 goals per game. Phenomenal.

Right now, Osimhen averages 0.55 goals for the Eagles but, considering age is on his side, and the fact that there's still plenty of room for him to improve, he could very well match up to the great Yekini in the next decade.

The number of goals he needs to score to reach Yekini's tally is 27. This means there is still a long way to go for Osimhen, but he's a young striker that is just getting started.

The two things Osimhen and the legendary Yekini have in common right now is that they are both goal machines who are passionate about putting the ball in the back of the opposition net and win football matches.

If I were a betting man, then my money would be on the young Napoli striker to hold the record of "all-time top goal scorer of the Super Eagles of Nigeria" in the next decade or by the end of his career.
