Two Players Arsenal Should Consider For The Captaincy After Pierre Emerick Aubameyang

There is a popular saying around the football world which goes thus "A team is a reflection of its captain". This quote is very much true as the greatest title-winning teams of the past and present usually have a strong and capable captain to lead.

A captain is instrumental for a team in so many ways. He leads by example, he gives rousing speeches in the dressing room, makes his team's voice heard by the referee during a game, guides youngsters who are just promoted into the team and also helps new signings settle around the environment.

The current Arsenal captain is Gabonese hitman Pierre Emerick Aubameyang. The electric striker got the captaincy from Granit Xhaka who had a confrontation with the fans during a match. Although Pierre Emerick Aubameyang is a good choice for the captaincy, he may not be at the Emirates Stadium for too long as he is already 32 years old.

Here are two players Arsenal should consider for the captaincy after Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.

1. Gabriel Magalhaes: Signed from Lille FC in 2020 for 27 million pounds, the Brazilian defender has had an impressive and impactful start to his career at the Emirates Stadium. Gabriel Magalhaes is vocal on the pitch and does not shy away from challenges when the going gets tough.

2. Kieran Tierney: The Scottish left-back is another ideal option for the Arsenal captaincy. He is extremely vocal, hardworking and gives his all on the pitch.

When talking about the aforementioned players for the Arsenal captaincy, no one can doubt their commitment, passion, willingness to push the standards higher and their pride in wearing the badge on the red and white jersey.

These are what the fans want to see in someone who would be leading their team out of the tunnel every week.

What do you think about these candidates? If you have any other suggestions for the captaincy, let us know your opinions in the comments section below.
