3 World Records Ronaldo Currently Holds, That Messi Might Smash Before Retirement

For many years now, Ronaldo and Messi have been Football's number one rivals, some fans believe Ronaldo is the best and others feel Messi is even better.

Both of these players hold so many world records, that will be very difficult to match.

In this article, we will be looking at some World Records Ronaldo holds, that Messi might smash before retirement.

1. Highest International Goals

The Portugal stars hold the record, as the player with the highest International Goals in Football history. With 2 major trophies for Portugal, Ronaldo has scored 112 goals in 181 appearances, across all international competitions.

On the other hand, the Argentine star, just recorded his 80th goal for Argentina, after he scored a goal against Uruguay in the 2022 World cup qualifiers tournament.

Messi has just 155 International appearances, which is far from Ronaldo's 181 appearances. I believe that Messi will have more opportunities to represent his country and net more international goals before his retirement.

He may as well smash Ronaldo's record, he is just 32 goals behind.

2. All-Time Goal Scorer

Ronaldo also holds the record of the All Time goal scorer in football history. He has made over 1100 professional appearances and has over 790 goals.

Messi on the other hand has about 753 goals, in less than 940 appearances.

The gap is not so wide, in a few years, Messi May turn the table, and become the all-time goal scorer, before his retirement.

3. Highest Champions League Goals

It is amazing to know that Ronaldo also holds the record as the Champions league's highest goal scorer of all time, he has scored 135 goals in 3 clubs and has made over 180 appearances.

On the other hand, The 6X Ballon d'Or winner has 120 goals in 2 clubs and 149 appearances.

Once again we can see that Messi is not far from matching Ronaldo's record. I believe he will smash the record in a few years.
