Premier League Top 10 Goalscorers Of All Time

Many great goalscorers have featured in the Premier League since it was formed in 1992, but who has scored the most goals?

Players like Wayne Rooney , Frank Lampard and Michael Owen all made names for themselves after leading their teams to both domestic and continental glory with their important goals. 

The Premier League is rated first in the UEFA coefficients of leagues based on performances in European competitions over the past five seasons and the League is regarded by many as the toughest League in Europe. 

Here are the top 10 goalscorers in Premier League history

Michael Owen (150 goals) 

Michael Owen had his best spell with Liverpool, with the Merseyside club he won the 2001 Ballon d'Or award. Michael Owen was unplayable during his time with Liverpool where he scored 118 goals in 216 League matches. Owen had a spell with Newcastle, Stoke City and won 2010-2011 Premier League title with Manchester United. He ended his Premier League career with 150 goals and 31 assists in 326 appearances. 

Jermain Defoe (162 goals) 

Jermain Defoe is ninth on the list of players with the most Premier League goals. He started his professional career at West Ham in 1999 and went on to represent Tottenham, Portsmouth, Sunderland, and Bournemouth in the Premier League. He ended his Premier League career with 162 goals and 33 assists in 496 appearances. 

Robbie Fowler (163 goals) 

Robbie Fowler is 8th highest goalscorer in the history of the Premier League. The Liverpool legend started his professional career with Liverpool in 1992-93 season and still remain Liverpool highest goalscorer of all time. He also played for Leeds United, Manchester City and Blackburn in the Premier League. He scored 163 goals and registered 39 assists in 379 appearances. 

7. Harry Kane (166 goals) 

Tottenham's front man, Harry Kane is 7th on the list of players with the most league goals with 166 goals in 251 appearances , the Englishman is the only active player in the top 10. 

6. Thierry Henry (175 goals) 

Arsenal leading scorer of all time, Thierry Henry is 6th on the list of the Premier League top goalscorers of all time with 175 and 74 assists in 258 appearances. The Frenchman won two Premier League titles with Arsenal and also won a record four Premier League golden boots. 

5. Frank Lampard (177 goals) 

Lampard is the only midfielder in this list, he is Chelsea's highest goalscorer of all time and the highest goal scoring midfielder of all time in the Premier. He featured for West Ham Chelsea and Manchester City but enjoyed his best spell with Chelsea where he won three Premier League titles. Lampard ended his Premier League career with 177 goals and 102 assists in 609 appearances. 

4. Sergio Agüero (184 goals) 

Agüero is the fourth player with the most Premier League goals with 184 strikes in 275 appearances , he's also the player to have scored the most league goals for a single club(184). Agüero joined Manchester City in 2011 in a deal worth £35millon and went on to win 5 Premier League titles before moving to Barcelona on a free transfer in the summer. 

3. Andrew Cole (187 goals) 

Andy Cole is the third-highest goalscorer in Premier League history with 187 goals, he holds Premier League records for most goals scored in a 42-game season (34),and fastest to score 50 goals (65 matches), as well as being the first player to top the Premier League's goalscoring charts and assist charts in the same season in 1993–1994, the second being Harry Kane in 2020-21 season. After two solid seasons with Newcastle United where he scored 68 goals in 84 matches, Cole moved to Manchester United in 1995. With United he won 5 Premier League titles under Sir Alex Ferguson. He also represented Blackburn, Fulham, Manchester City, Portsmouth and Sunderland in the Premier League, he ended his Premier League career with 187 goals and 73 assists in 414 league appearances. 

2. Wayne Rooney (208 goals) 

Wayne Rooney made his Premier League debut for Everton at 16 and scored 15 League goals in 67 appearances for Merseyside club before moving to Manchester United for £25.6 million in the summer of 2004. He made 393 appearances for United and scored 183 goals winning five Premier League titles. He moved back to Everton in the 2017-2018 season and scored a further 10 league goals in 31 appearances. He ended his Premier League career with 208 goals in 491 appearances. 

1. Alan Shearer (260 goals) 

Former England international Shearer holds the record for the most goals scored in the Premier league . He made 441 appearances in the Premier League for both Blackburn & Newcastle United and scored 260 goals. He won the Premier League with Blackburn in the 1994/1995 season and he's the only player aside Thierry Henry to have won three consecutive Premier League golden boot awards.
