Man United vs Liverpool preview: Team news, injuries, H2H, referee, kick-off and possible lineups

It promises to be a mouth-watering encounter on Sunday when Manchester United welcome Liverpool for an epic English Premier League game.

Old Trafford will resonate once again with red colour, drums, songs, trumpet and a full capacity stadium.

Liverpool, who has not lost any game this season are seen as favourites over a United who are struggling in the EPL.

Prior to the matchday nine fixture, Manchester United are sitting on the 6th spot in the league table after four wins, two draws and two defeats.

Liverpool, who have now been displaced from the 2nd spot by Manchester City, have not lost a game this season, winning five and drawing three.

With only one point from the last nine on offer in the Premier League, sixth-placed United are five points adrift of leaders Chelsea and could very well drop further down the rankings depending on what transpires before the Reds pay a visit to the Theatre of Dreams.

Not since October 2019 have Man United gone four games without a win in the top flight, but the Red Devils only have two victories to boast from their last seven top-flight encounters at Old Trafford, where Liverpool will aim to condemn them to a 10th home clash without a clean sheet in the Premier League.

Head to head

Liverpool's 18-game unbeaten league run is currently the longest in the top four English divisions, and their thrilling 4-2 success at Old Trafford last term represented their sixth Premier League game without defeat against United, who have certainly not fortified the Theatre of Dreams from against attacks from the rampant Liverpool machine.

Injury concerns

Marcus Rashford and Fred have both emerged as doubts for this game after coming off injured against Atalanta, while a recent report claimed that Bruno Fernandes was limping in training after the Champions League encounter and is also uncertain.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are hopeful of welcoming Curtis Jones back in time to face the Red Devils, but Thiago Alcantara is expected to remain out of contention alongside Harvey Elliott for the time being.

Fabinho was surprisingly named on the bench in midweek but is sure to replace either James Milner or Naby Keita in the XI here, while Jones could also rival one of the duo for the other spot in the engine room alongside Jordan Henderson.

Venue and kick-off

The game will kick-off at 4:30pm inside the Theater Of Dreams also called Old Trafford.

Referee Anthony Taylor (England) will officiate the game.

Possible starting lineup

Manchester United: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw; McTominay, Pogba; Greenwood, Fernandes, Rashford; Ronaldo
