Lionel Messi will miss PSG's trip to Metz on Wednesday night due to injury, just two days after boss Mauricio Pochettino was forced to defend his use of the star.
PSG manager decision to take Lionel Messi off with the score at 1-1 in PSG's game against Lyon on Sunday was a controversial one. Even if the coach later explained that he was worried about a potential injury, the fact that Messi looked puzzled has sparked a massive debate in the French capital.
There were reports on Monday claiming that Messi had a minor knee injury, suggesting Pochettino was right to take the forward off the pitch. The fact PSG went on to defeat Lyon 2-1, with a goal from substitute Mauro Icardi, also earned Pochettino some credit.
