Jose Mourinho was appointed in November 2019 following the sack of Argentine, Mauricio Pochettino, and was tasked with uplifting a Tottenham Hotspur side that struggled in Mauricio Pochettino’s final season. In his first season as manager, he lifted them from 16th to 6th, but results haven’t gone as he would have expected this season.
Current Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has reacted to the sacking of the Portuguese, Jose Mourinho and he also admitted that he is very surprised at the decision, but can only wish Jose Mourinho well.
“I’m usually surprised when it happens [a managerial sacking],” Thomas Tuchel said when asked about Jose Mourinho’s departure.
“In football, we’re all competitors and we all try to beat each other but in the end we definitely wish every manager has a good atmosphere and that they are in a good state and place to work.
“As for me, It never feels good as another manager when someone is sacked but it’s definitely not my job to comment on that. It is just what it is.
“In football, everybody fights hard for results and when a big decision like this comes, it's always a surprise. I honestly didn’t see this coming.”
