5 Greatest Comeback Results in Premier League History.

A Comeback is an inspiring way to get victories or recoveries in football. When a time finds itself behind in a football game, the possibility of losing such a match is very high. The mental, psychological and emotional effect of going behind cannot be underestimated.

Some teams would concede a single goal in the early minutes of a match and fail to get that one goal back in the end.

In contrast, some teams from 2, 3 and even 4 goals down have gone on to either win the game or at least get something out of it.

In the history of the Premier League, such scenarios have occurred in the past. While many teams have earned comeback victories, very few have done it while being more than 2 goals down. With many comeback victories in the competition's history, I have only compiled a list of the greatest 5 in this article.

It is worth nothing that at the moment, Manchester United are the comeback kings of the Premier League. The Red Devils have earned the most points from losing position in the last 1 year. In fact, last season, they set a record for the highest points won from losing position in a single season. Similarly, they won at least 10 matches from the losing positions, a record in the Premier League as well.

In his article, a list of criteria will be employed to arrive at this list. We shall consider the number of goals a team recovered from, the number of minutes it took them to complete it, and the result. Furthermore, we will consider how many goals they had to score and the position of the team that pulled off the comeback.

With many comeback results in the league, here are the greatest 5 of them all. Kindly follow “Amazingboi” at the end of this article. Stay tuned and enjoy.

5. Crystal Palace.

This result edge its way into this list as a result of the time it them to recover and the position of the team that pulled off the result. In matchday 37 of the 2013/2014 Premier League season, 2 placed Liverpool were close in on the tile until Crystal Palace denied them all three points to ultimately end their title dreams.

With a little over 9 minutes to go in the game, Liverpool bottled the title by surrendering a 0 – 3 lead away from home. In just a period of 9 minutes towards the end of the game, Crystal Palace, who were 11th on the log at that point, rallied from being 0 – 3 down to force a 3–3 draw against Liverpool.

4. West Bromwich Albion vs Manchester United.

On the 2012/13 Premier League season, which was the final match of Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United career, the highest draw result in Premier League history was played. The only sad thing about this result was that Manchester United were at the receiving end of it.

Manchester United would have thought that they were going to hand the legendary Scotsman a victory as a farewell gift after leading West Bromwich Albion 2 – 5 with just 5 minutes remaining, excluding added on time. Unfortunately, 3 quick-fire goals in just 5 minutes would earn West Bromwich Albion a draw against the Champions for that same season.

3. Wolves vs Leicester City.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have also produced one of the greatest comeback victories in Premier League history. In a match in the 2003/2004 season, Wolves fount themselves losing 0 – 3 at home to Leicester City in the first half.

However, in the second half of the game, Wolves had other ideas. Four goals in a space of 16 minutes in the second half earned them an incredible comeback result. They won the match 4 – 3.
