Olympics: D'Tigers Aim For First Win, Youngster Hits The Pool With Eyes On Nigerian record

It's the day of redemption for the Nigerian men's basketball team, D'Tigers, as they seek to record their first win at the Olympics.

The D'tigers will go up against Germany in the second group game at the Saitama Super Arena.

Both Germany and Nigeria lost their first game and the last time both teams met was at the 2006 world championships, where Germany won via a point.

Elsewhere in Swimming, Nigeria's sole representative Abiola Ogunbanwo will take to the waters in the women's 100m freestyle heat one.

Abiola will line up in lane one of the heat.

She is currently the national record holder in the women’s 200m freestyle and will need to finish under a minute if she is to stand a chance of progressing to the semi-finals in her event.

Finishing under a minute will also make her become the first Nigerian woman to do so.

Meanwhile, on day 5, Nigeria and Africa's number Aruna Quadri lost at the table tennis event to Gustavo Tsuboi.

The Brazillian pulled one of the shocks of the event with a 4-2 win over Quadri.

D'Tigress ran out of time in their bid to crawl back the 20pts deficit against the United States in the basketball event.

The gallant effort of the ladies ended with a 72-81 loss to the Americans.

In Badminton, Adesokan Dorcas lost her second group game in the Women Single Group Play Stage – Group to Seyoung of Korea at the Musashino Forest Sport Plaza BDM.

Also, Olofua Godwin and Opeyori Anuoluwapo lost their third straight game in the doubles category.
