Robert Lewandowski sets new UCL record as 1st player to reach this feat since start of last season

German Bundesliga champion, Bayern Munich were in action on Wednesday night in the second leg of the UEFA champions league round of 16 ties at the Allianz Arena.

The Hansi Flick's side were very confident going into the return leg of the game over the Simone Inzaghi led Lazio team, having won the first leg of the ties with a four goals to one score line.

The Bundesliga Champions once again took the lead in the show of the night with Robert Lewandowski scoring via a penalty, as he put the ball away from the spot in the 33rd minutes to make it one nil which was the only goal that separated the both sides at half time.

Robert Lewandowski with his first goal of the night has now netted 39 goals in 35 games for Bayern Munich this season.

Lewandowski has now scored five or more goals in nine successive seasons in the Champions league.

Since the start of last season, Robert Lewandowski has now been directly involved in more champoins league goals than any other player. (20 goals and five assists in 13 games under Hansi Flick).

The second half was very intensed between the sides with the Hansi Flick's side the dominant side of the night.

They were able to doubled their lead in the 73rd minutes with Choupo-Moting getting on the score sheet to make it two nil with an assist from David Alaba.

In the 82nd minutes, the visitor were also able to put one back as Andreas Pereira set up Marco Parolo to make it two goals to one.

With other attempts to add to the tally, all were not successful as it ended 2-1 at full time (6-2 on aggregate).

With the massive 6-2 score line on aggregate, Bayern Munich are now through to the quarter finals of the competition as they joined the likes of PSG, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Porto, Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund in the pursuit for the title race.
