Real Madrid kept searching for their first attempt at a goal. Real Madrid won their first corner in the 33rd minute. B. Silva found the back of the net again in the 35th minute to give Manchester City a 2-goal lead. The home side kept pushing for a third goal as they won a corner in the 40th minute. B. Silva had his shot saved by Courtois in the 43rd minute. The first 45 minutes ended with Real Madrid trailing Manchester City by 2 goals to nil.
