Opinion: Stop Blaming Kepa Arizaballaga For Yesterday's game, See The Player That Made Chelsea Lose
Chelsea crumbled to another disappointing draw for the second time this season as Frank Lampard was left frustrated over his team's form. Another shambolic Chelsea's display saw them play out a 3-3 draw for the second time this season after going two goals up.
Chelsea started the game on a high note, creating countless goal-scoring chances with nice techniques and combination by the front three in the first half of the game. It was Chelsea new boy, Timo Werner who opened the scoreline for Chelsea after making a dummy run and outpaced Southampton defenders to score a glorious goal.
A clever Jorginho long pass was strong enough to locate Timo Werner who again outpace the defender and the goalkeeper to score the second goal for Chelsea.
Timo Werner later turns the provider in the second half when he set-up his countryman, Kai Havertz for Chelsea third goal of the game but that wasn't enough as Southampton worked hard to score the equalizing goal in the second half.
it was a perfect game for Timo Werner, scoring twice and providing one assist for the blues, but his efforts were ruined by defensive errors from Andreas Christensen and Kurt Zouma. But the main culprit of the game wasn't Kepa Arizaballaga as widely alleged by Chelsea fans who put all the blames on the £71m rated goalkeeper.
Chelsea lost due to the individual errors which could be avoided if the defenders were very alert to prevent the goals. The first goal was a foul on Kai Havertz which the referee chose to ignore and let to Danny Ings goal. Kurt Zouma was there but couldn't move in quickly to slow down Danny Ings and stop him from taking a shot at Kepa Arizaballaga.
The second goal was solely Kurt Zouma mistakes which he shouldn't have made as a professional player. Remember the costly mistake made by Raphael Varane in the UEFA Champions League that led Gabriel Jesus scoring the winning goal for Manchester City to send Real Madrid packing from the game.
That was the exact situation with Kurt Zouma yesterday. Zouma had the opportunity to kick the ball off to throw-in or corner kick, it was an easy task but he opted to make a dangerous back pass that cost Chelsea the game. Zouma pass to Kepa was very poor and the Southampton striker, Adams capitalize on the poor pass to equalize for the saints. Kurt Zouma after making bad pass failed to return to correct his mistake or assist Kepa Arizaballaga in defending for a possible shot stood to stand still and watch the Adams scores for the Saints.
Check out the photos of below.
Southampton third goal wasn't Kepa Arizaballaga fault as any Goalkeeper could concede such goal. We have seen David De Gea and Adrian concede such goal hence it was Arizaballaga fault.
Kurt Zouma is the player to be blamed for yesterday game in my humble opinion.
