Barely few hours ago, I discussed about the possibility of Messi breaking Henry's records for goals and assists in a single Season which had been safe since 2003. Henry was still Arsene Wenger's Golden boy when he made that feat after his transfer from France to England.
For those wishing to know, the Magician has done it. Messi scored two goal against Alaves few minutes ago to take his goal tally for the season to 25 making him the new record holder. He already had 20 assists to his name in the league.
Henry did it in 2003 when he bagged 20 assists and 24 goals making him the only player to hold such record in the 21st century but that is now handed over to Messi.
Messi is officially the Pichichi award winner with 25 goals and that can only be evitable if Benzema scores five goals today to take it away from him as he is currently on 21 goals.
Henry and Messi did play side by Side during Henry's Barcelona years and they both had wonderful seasons together including the 'Sextuple' season when they won every tournament they participated in. That was a marvelous feat which was achieved under current Man City coach, Pep Guardiola.
Do you think anyone has the potential to break this record in the near future?
