Following an unsuccessful first spell, Romelu Lukaku spent the last seven seasons of his career working on improving himself as a striker before making a sensational return to Stamford Bridge this past summer. Needful to say that Chelsea broke a club record fee to bring back the Belgian with the optimism that his prolificity will improve the team's attacking prowess. However, since his comeback, the 28 year old has bagged four goals so far, but he is still miles away from catching Frank Lampard who happens to be the all time top scorer at Chelsea.
Statistically, Lampard bagged two hundred and eleven (211) goals during his 13 year stint at the club. Considering the fact that Lukaku was unproductive in his first spell, it means he has only scored four goals for the Blue contingent of West London, a tally that keeps in 154 position on the all time scoring chart. With this in mind, the Belgian will need to score 207 goals to draw level with Frank Lampard and 208 more if he intends to surpass the English man.
See statistics below;Lukaku is 28 years old, he signed a five year contract with the Blues which will keep him at the club until he is at least 33 years of age. If poor form doesn't get the better of him, is there a chance he can overtake Frank Lampard in top spot?.
It goes without saying that so much is expected from the Chelsea number 9 considering his price tag, he only has one job to do and that's finding the back of the net regularly. But even by Lukaku's standards and knowing that form is temporary, do you think he can bag at least 208 goals to become Chelsea's all time top scorer?
