Osimhen's Napoli Are The Only Team With A Perfect Record So Far & Are On Point To Win Serie-A

Napoli are the only team in Europe's top five divisions with a 100% league record this season. They have recorded wins across their first seven matches of their 2021/22 Serie A campaign, scoring 18 goals while letting in just three (with 4 clean sheets).

Luciano Spalletti is doing a fantastic job with the team at his disposal, he has infused pace in their attack with the bullish Victor Osimhen leading the line, alongside EURO 2020 winner Lorenzo Insigne.

Napoli are one of the 'top dogs' when it comes to Italian football and many consider them as a household name in the top level of European football.

However, they do not necessarily have a great reputation when it comes to trophy success. As a matter of fact, the 'Gli Azzuri' only have two Italian Serie A titles in their trophy cabinet and the last time they lifted it was back in 1990 (31 years ago) when a certain Diego Maradona was their player.

Napoli have only won the scudetto on two occasions in 1987 and 1990 and they needed the individual brilliance of one of the greatest players in football history to guide them to the trophy.

Indeed the side from Naples have not had much luck in Serie A since the Maradona era, although they have come close to winning it with second place finishes on a number of seasons. However with their brand of football and the way they have started, Napoli might just end their trophy drought this season.

One major factor that makes them favorites this season is the consistent form of Victor Osimhen. The Super Eagles striker endured a terrible debut season that was blighted by injuries and Covid-19 infection that restricted him to just 10 goals last term.

The Lagos-born forward is compensating for that with his outstanding performances this season. He has been the main man for Luciano Spalletti's side with 4 goals in 6 league matches so far.

Osimhen is also Napoli's top scorer in the UEFA Europa League with 3 goals to his name. The former Under-17 world champion is in the form of his life at the moment and is surely going to play a huge part if his team does win a trophy this season. He could be the modern-day Maradona that fires them to the Serie A title for the first time in 31 years.
