Ballon D'or 2021: France football releases front cover of Magazine that contains the Nominees

The France football committee is set to release nominations for the coveted football award on Friday, the 8th of September 2021.

The award gala which was cancelled last year due to the pandemic that took place is sure to take place this year and the November 29 has been set aside for the ceremony.

A lot of players are already contenders for the prestigious award after a wonderful and uncertain 2020/2021 season. Chelsea ended the season as the Champions League winners without a clear standout performer as they played as a team. Over the years, the Ballon D'or or golden ball is given mostly to a Champions League winning player but the cycle came to an end in the last edition of the award which took place in 2019. The 2019 ceremony saw Leo Messi go home with the prestigious award ahead of Liverpool's Virgil Van Dijk and Juventus' Cristiano Ronaldo.

Van Dijk was tagged the favourite to land the award after winning the UEFA Champions League with Liverpool and also the UEFA Player of the year in August of the same year but Messi shocked everyone when he went home with the FIFA The Best award and also the Ballon D'or. The Golden ball in 2019 was Messi's sixth.

Players like Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe, Kevin De Bruyne, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Ruben Dias, N'Golo Kante, Jorginho Frello, Cristiano Ronaldo, Robert Lewandowski and Leo Messi are all strong contenders for the coveted award and none should be counted out just yet.

The France Football committee has released the front page of the magazine that contains the nominees for various awards such as the Yacine award given to Goal Keepers, the Women Ballon D'or nominees, the Puskas award, the fair play award, Coach of the year, the Men Ballon D'or nominees among a host of other awards.

Leo Messi graced the cover of the magazine and this has once again proven Messi's charge to his 7th Ballon D'or award come November 29,2021.
