Atalanta United confirmed the sad news of the Ivory Coast youth international's death on tuesday.
Willy Ta Bi, joined the Italian Serie A side from Asec Mimosa a club based in his homeland in 2019, and immediately tasted success after helping Atalanta's youth team to winning the Primavera title.
Late Willy Ta Bi captained his country at the youth and Ivory coast at the Francophone Games way back in 2017. His last competitive match was on June, 2019 shortly before his cancer diagnosis.
Chelsea's and Ivory Coast football legend Didier Drogba shared a public tribute on Twitter. Drogba wrote:
" Ivory coast, the football world are mourning you, you fought against this damn disease as you fought on the pitches like a real boss, a leader!!!"
Juventus' midfielder Dejan Kulusevski was part of the Trophy- winning Atalanta youth team alongside Ta Bi, Kulusevski also paid a tribute to Ta Bi, "Rest In Peace, Brother" Kulusevski wrote.
