No More Away Goal Rule In European Competitions As UEFA Makes Massive Changes.

The Governing body of European football has today announced that there will be no more away goal rule in European club competitions such as the Uefa Champions league and the Europa league.

The announcement was made by President Ceferin on Thursday after there had been several deliberations by the governing body in the past months on whether the rule should be scrapped or not.

UEFA President, Aleksander Ceferin also made a statement saying that the rule has stopped serving its original purpose because in recent times, home teams in European competitions have stopped playing vibrant attacking football because of the fear of conceding away goals.

This news has come as one of the drastic changes that has been made in European football in recent times which is in addition to the 5 player substitution rule that was also recently introduced in European football.

The cancellation of the "away goal rule" will take effect from the start of the 2021/22 European football season.
