Chelsea has continued from where they stopped last season, and currently sit at the top of the Premier League table, after seven rounds games played.
Since the appointment of Thomas Tuchel as the Chelsea manager ten months ago, he has effected several changes in the team, and got them playing the way he wants the team to play.
In this article, we will be looking at the three noticable changes in the Chelsea team this football season.
1. More Attacking Impetus
Chelsea had a lot of 1–0 win scoreline last season, preventing opponents from scoring, while they look for opportunities to score.
The London club struggled to convert most of their goal scoring chances last season.
In this current campaign, it has been a different scenario for Chelsea in attacking their oppositions, they have been more fluid going forward, and causing more problems in the opposition's half.
The addition of Romelu Lukaka in the last summer transfer window has also improved their attacking strength this season.
Chelsea are currently the second best attacking team in the Premier League so far this season with 15 goals scored from seven games, ahead of Manchester City(14) and Manchester United(14), only behind Liverpool who has scored 17 league goals.
2. Switch To Double Strikers
Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea team stuck with the 3:4:3 formation last season, but since the signing of Romelu Lukaka, it seems the Chelsea manager is gradually shifting to a two man forward this season, with a 3:5:2 formation.
Romelu Lukaku plays as the recognize striker for Chelsea, but either Kai Havertz or Timo Werner has been used to partner the Belgian in a more advanced second striker role in games this season.
3. Maximizing Full Squad Strength
This season Thomas Tuchel has found a way to rotate the Chelsea squad regularly without reducing the quality of the team's strength.
He has also given playing time to the fringe players such as Ruben Loftus–Cheek, Chalobah, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Hodson-Odoi, and Ross Barkley, thereby maximizing the full strength of the squad, and also keeping a happy squad.
