Signing Aouar & Odegaard For A Combined Fee Of £70M Or Signing Maddison For £70M, Which Is Better?

Three names (Aouar, Odegaard and Maddison) have been heavily linked to Arsenal for the attacking midfield position in the team, but so far, no information of an official bid have been lodged in for any of these players.

Although there have been contradicting information as to which player is Arsenal number one priority, but one is certain, the gunners do need an attacking player this season. Reports suggest that it will require a fee worth £70 million to price James Maddison out of Leicester and also, with that amount, Arsenal can buy both Martin Odegaard and Houssem Aouar.

Considering the hike in prices of players in the modern transfer window, clubs will need to plan to spend wisely, so they get value for their money. All three players are extremely good in their craft, but the price is the issue here. Using £70 million to get both Aouar and Odegaard will be the best piece of business because they will give Mikel Arteta different options in tactics. The manager may decide to switch to a 3-4-3/4-3-3 formation knowing fully well that Aouar will fit excellently well or use the 4-2-3-1 formation which Odegaard thrives.

Signing just James Maddison for £70 million will only give Arsenal one option. Even though the England midfielder can play in a 4-3-3 formation, he is known to be a well-rounded number 10. He struggles when deployed in a 3-4-3 or 4-3-3 formation.

Yes, I know signing Maddison will benefit the club in terms of homegrown quota in the EPL, but I don't think it will be the best for the gunners.

So, I ask, Signing Aouar & Odegaard For A Combine Fee Of £70M Or Signing Maddison For £70M, Which Is Better?
