Opinion: The Injury Of Lukaku and Werner Could Create Goal Scoring Problems For Chelsea

Chelsea had a good game against Malmö FF on Wednesday night, but the game led to the injury of two of their main strikers, in the persons of Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku.

Both Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner were playing very well in the game before the two were substituted in the first half of the game due to injury. This is obviously bad news for Chelsea football club because:

1. The team will probably have goal scoring problem; there will be no true top 9 currently at Chelsea who is fit to play after the injury of Lukaku and Timo Werner. Lukaku is the main top 9 for Chelsea, but Werner is also a proven goalscorer who could have replaced Lukaku. But unfortunately, the two have been injured in the same game. As it is now, Chelsea will probably be scoring less number of goals until their attackers return from injury.

And the manager, Thomas Tuchel, has said after the game against Malmö FF that the two strikers will be away for some days. This means that nobody knows when the two strikers will be fit again

2. Chelsea's squad depth will be affected; Chelsea has some of the best squads in the EPL this season, this has been shown in the results that Chelsea has had so far. But the injury will reduce the number of players on the bench. Thomas Tuchel has won so many games from the bench this season, and when Lukaku and Timo Werner are not in the team, it means Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech will likely become regular starters for Chelsea.

Who will now be a standout player that will come into the game and make the difference? Thomas Tuchel will definitely have more work to do as a manager. We have seen cases where teams suffer because of the injury of some top players. Let's hope that Chelsea won't be affected by the absence of Lukaku and Timo Werner.
