Brentford 2-0 Arsenal: Check Out The Match Highlights And Arteta’s Statement

The English Premier League is back again on our screen, as Arsenal traveled to Brentford for the first match of the 2021/2022 season.

Arsenal who were without the service of their first choice strikers (Abumeyang and Lacazette were unfit for the match, according to statement from Arsenal’s official social media page), started the match with Folarin Balogun and Gabriel Martinelli in attack.

Arsenal started the match the better side, but an early goal from Sergi Canos, in the 22nd minutes, gave Brentford the leading going into the second half. At the re-start, Arsenal made few changes to their front line, as Saka was brought in to replace Balogun, with Martinelli, playing as a lone striker.

Just after the hour mark, Christian Noergaard, doubled Brentford’s advantage as he scored a wonderful solo goal.

Reacting after the match, Arsenal’s boss, Mikel Arteta, congratulated Brentford for their incredible win.

“It’s a very disappointing night. We needed to start in a very different way. We created a lot of situations but not enough threat or shots on target to win a football match. Congratulations to Brentford on what they did, on what they have done to be where they are and for the fantastic crowd that they have right behind the team.” Mikel Arteta’s after match press conference reads.
