Chukwueze Assists, Olayinka Scores As Balogun Sees Red In Europa League Games

It was a night of mixed feelings for Nigerian players in the round of 16 of the UEFA Europa League which was played on Thursday evening. It was the second leg of the tie and Nigerian players were represented and it was a tale of heros and a villain

Villarreal winger, Samuel Chukwueze saw 71 minutes of action for the Yellow Submarines as they beat Ukrainian side, Dynamo Kyiv 4-0 on aggregate to progress to the quarterfinal. Samuel Chukwueze got an assist in the 13th minute as Gerard Moreno scored his first goal on the night

Former Bendel Insurance player, Iyayi Believe Atiemwen also got an assist in Dinamo Zabreb's stunning victory over Jose Mourinho's Tottenham. Spurs had come into the game with a two-goal lead but Zagreb overturned the result to win 3-2 on aggregate. Iyayi provided an assist to Mislav Orsic in the 83rd minute


Peter Olayinka inspired Slavia Prague to a 3-1 aggregate win over Rangers of Scotland, a game which also had Super Eagles players Leon Balogun and Joe Aribo starting for Rangers. Olayinka got his goal in the 14th minute


Leon Balogun was shown the exit by referee, Orel Grinfeld after the defender received a second yellow card in the 73rd minute. Kemar Roofe had earlier been sent off from the Rangers team in the 61st minute and twelve minutes later, Rangers were reduced to 9 men. Joe Aribo also got a yellow card in the 86th minute
