Two Defenders To Watch Out For In Chelsea's Team Next Season

Chelsea might have a lot of pressure to handle next season considering their new status as the Champions of Europe. They will be taking on top opponents at the beginning of the season. Concentration and experience will be the drive to pull them through these difficult fixtures.

In this article, I will be showing you two defenders that would be at the frontage to decide Chelsea's fate at the backline.

1. Andreas Christensen

A sublime performance from this Danish defender. Going for an international outing has changed his orientation about defending. Although he seems to have improved before the ending of the last campaign.

Christensen has gotten much tougher over this last few weeks. Thomas Tuchel will have a lot of decisions to make next season, he will be contemplating on playing a three-man defender. It will be so hard to leave Andreas out of this formation, a shaky Zouma can't compete with him at the moment. I guess after Chelsea saw how hardworking he [Christensen] had been in Euros they agreed on selling off Tomori to AC Milan.

Antonio Rudiger

When we are talking about defenders who have this tough spirit in a football game, Antonio Rudiger will be among the roll call. The German defender has got the agility and power to dictate the game in his way. It's not out of context to call him a Fighter. After winning the Champions League title with Chelsea, he went on to defend the German team in Euros.

Although, the outcome of the event in the tournament was beyond the expectation of Rudiger and the whole German team. Ronaldo showboating him in the Competition has heightened tension as many questions are being raised on if Rudiger still got the mojo to lead Chelsea's defense next season. I think a couple of matches shouldn't be used to determine the future of Rudiger at Chelsea.

Rudiger ascertained that World Class status when he led Chelsea to win the Champions League. He unexpectedly made defending an art, his sliding tackle that decided the Champions League game against Manchester City will remain unforgettable in all blues fan's hearts. He will be looking on to continue that momentum as a nightmare to the opponents next season.
