Opinion: EPL Team Of The Week After Gameweek 9

We were treated to some entertaining football in the English Premier League this weekend with a total of 39 goals to enjoy from the ten fixtures that were played.

Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Watford all strolled to comfortable victories while Manchester United and Norwich City were the biggest losers this weekend.

We will now review the best individual performances from this weekend's matches and try to fit them into a starting lineup.

From back to front, here we go...

Alisson Becker (Liverpool)

Alisson was comfortable in goal as his team thrashed Manchester United at Old Trafford. Although he was called to action on a few occasions but was equal to the task to keep yet another clean sheet for Liverpool.

Virgil Van Dijk (Liverpool)

Van Dijk was instrumental to his teams win against their staunch rivals on Super Sunday. The Dutch center back organized his defence very well to keep out United's attackers and maintain a clean sheet while his strikers did the business up front.

Ibrahim Konate (Liverpool)

Konate surprisingly started ahead of Joel Matip and he justified his selection with a solid display at the back to silence Cristiano Ronaldo and the likes.

Antonio Rudiger (Chelsea)

Chelsea were expected to beat Norwich and they did it in dominant fashion, scoring 7 and conceding none. Rudiger's solid defensive display helped his team to another clean sheet and he also contributed to the goals by winning a penalty.

Mason Mount (Chelsea)

Chelsea’s hattrick hero also makes our team of the week. Mount's treble against the Premier League bottom boys paved the way for an emphatic win for the European champions who kept their place at the top of the table.

Matteo Kovacic (Chelsea)

Kovacic was unplayable in the middle of the park and his quality was simply too much to handle for Norwich. The Croatian coordinated the midfield effectively and provided two assists on the day.

Phil Foden (Manchester City)

Foden was deployed as a center forward in the absence of Ferran Torres and Raheem Sterling and he did not fail to deliver with his performance. The youngster scored two and assisted another to hand Pep Guardiola's team a comfortable win against Brighton on Saturday.

Emile Smith Rowe (Arsenal)

Arsenal's number 10 was crucial to their win against Aston Villa. The 21 year old scored and provided an assist as the Gunners picked up three points in front of their home fans against the Villains.

Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)

Salah is proving to be the best player in the world with his incredible goalscoring record this season. The Egyptian forward scored a hattrick and also provided an assist as his team humbled Manchester United at Old Trafford. He has now scored in 10 consecutive games for Jurgen Klopp's side. Truly incredible.

Joshua King (Watford)

King was another hattrick hero from the weekend. His three goals gave the Hornets an impressive 5-2 win at Goodison Park.

Emmanuel Dennis (Watford)

The Super Eagles forward was the game changer for Watford in the win against Everton. Claudio Ranieri introduced him in the second half of the game and he immediately made an impact with two assists and a goal.
