Juventus defeated the winners of last season Uefa Champions League by a lone goal in Italy. It was a very tough match but the Italian team dominated the game throughout the whole of 90 minutes.
It was a surprise result because the blues came prepared to win the Italian team. Thomas Tuchel named a formidable lineup that saw almost all his first squad starting the match against Juventus. The manager maintained his 3:4:3 formation, but he was more defensive than attacking in the match.
Chelsea lost control of the match immediately the referee sounded the whistle for the kick off of the second half. Federico Chiesa scored the only goal that separated the both teams at the end of the match in just a minute into the second half of the game. The blues tried all they could to Equalise, but all effort proved abortive till 90 minutes.
Thomas Tuchel could not organise the team by tactically changing formation that will Favour his strikers. Romelu Lukaku was finding difficult to operate because they were no good passes from the midfielder throughout the whole match.
The possible reasons why Chelsea lost their champions League match against Juventus are many, but these two are the most valuable reasons why Thomas Tuchel could not win/draw the match.
1. Lack Of Creativity In The Midfield
The manager failed to play his best midfielders in the match. He was supposed to start them against Juventus for him to be able to control of the match.
The midfielders could not play any penetrating passes that can enable the strikers to score. Romelu Lukaku was frustrated with the poor performance of the midfielders.
2. Thomas Tuchel Played A Defensive Game
The Uefa men's coach of the year used a defensive approach to play against Juventus, and it did not work out well for him. The team could not attack their opponent till the end of the match.
The tactics he used against the Italian Giants was not favourable for the blues.
