The Spanish La Liga resumed this weekend with numerous interesting games scheduled to entertain football lovers. Just a few days after the Copa Del Rey semi-finals took place, Getafe and Girona faced each other in what seemed like the battle for the relegation zone. Before the game, Getafe was stuck in the relegation zone with 22 points in 23 games.
A brace from Enes Unal as well as a beautiful striker by Borja Mayoral was able to secure a crucial three points for the home side. Villarreal traveled to Power Horse Stadium where they faced newly promoted, Almeria. Despite a goalless first half, the away side was composed and grabbed two goals that sealed the win for them.
Mallorca hosted Elche at the Estadio Mallorca Son Mood Stadium. The home side ventured into the game to bounce back from Espanyol's defeat, but unfortunately, Elche produced a stunning display to overpower them.
The last game of the weekend was a very tough clash between Atletico Madrid and Sevilla. Sevilla has been finding it difficult to turn their season around and they continue their woeful performances against Diego Simeone's men. Memphis Depay, Antoine Griezmann, Carrasco, and Alvaro Morata struck to boost their hope of finishing inside the top four.
