How Liverpool Is Likely To Line-up Against Manchester United On Sunday

Liverpool have proven to be of the most exciting teams to watch so far this season. The Merseysiders are unbeaten in 12 games across all competitions this season and are second on the Premier League table. With the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane firing on all cylinders, their clash with bitter foes Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday promises to be a cracker despite the latter's underwhelming start to the season.

The return of Virgil Van Dijk and Joel Matip to full fitness have also been a pivotal factor in the Reds' resurgence after their struggles last season.

For this crucial fixture, Jurgen Klopp will likely select his strongest possible side in a 4-3-3 formation comprising of Alisson Becker in goal, Virgil Van Dijk, Joel Matip, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson completing the defence.

Fabinho, who came on in the second-half against Atletico Madrid, is likely to be handed a start with Jordan Henderson and Naby Keita completing a midfield trio. This midfield combination is arguably Liverpool's strongest presently due to injuries to Thiago Alcantara and youngster Harvey Elliot. Jurgen Klopp might still opt to pick James Milner to start ahead of Keita in order to offer more protection to the defence.

Upfront, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are certain to start in attack. The pair have scored 12 goals in the league in between them and will be looking to extend their tally against a shaky Manchester United defence. The in-form Roberto Firmino is expected to complete the attack ahead of Diogo Jota. Firmino, who scored twice in this fixture at Old Trafford last season will be looking to add to his tally for the season after grabbing a hat-trick against Watford last week.

With Manchester United also possessing an array of stars, it will be a very close encounter at Old Trafford with the Red Devils seeking to record their first league win over Liverpool since 2018.
