The Pride of Rivers will be the only club representing Nigeria in the first round of the CAF champions league.
Two teams qualified for the CAF champions league, Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) current champions Akwa United and runner-up Rivers united,but the former was knocked out by CR Belouizdad in the preliminary stage 2-1 on aggregate while Rivers United got the better of Young Africans of Tanzania (1-0) on both legs.
Rivers will now battle Al Hilal of Sudan while CR Belouizdad will be up against one of the most successful clubs in Ivory Coast ASEC Mimosas.
Debutants USGN of Niger will have a handful as they face the most successful team in Africa and 10times CAF champions league winner Al Ahly.
Hearts of Oak of Ghana will take on former Champions Wydad,PRC Oilers will play Raja Casablanca.
