Manchester United's hope of UEFA Champions League qualification suffered a major setback on Sunday evening in London, following their disappointing 1-0 loss to West Ham United.
The Red Devils entered Sunday's showdown in London off the back of their disappointing 1-0 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion in their previous English Premier League match, and they were looking for a victory over the Hammers to revive their top-four finish dream.
Manchester United started the game on a promising note, dominating possession and forcing their hosts to sit back and defend. The Red Devils created a lot of goal-scoring chances in the initial stages of the game, but they could not find the back of the net. The deadlock was however broken in the 27th minute when Said Benrahama scored a stunning goal from outside the 18-yard box to give his team the lead. The Erik ten Hag-led team came back stronger in the second half of the fascinating game, as they continued their search for an equalizer. However, the game ended in favor of West Ham United as the Red Devils failed to convert their chances.
