Since the beginning of last season, Chelsea have invested heavily in their squad and they reaped some rewards at the end of last season.
Out of all the players that Chelsea signed last season, Timo Werner was the most productive.
The German produced over 25 goals and assists for Chelsea last term, but Kai Havertz, who was also signed last season produced when it mattered most. Havertz scored in Champions League final and that goal overshadowed most of his struggles last season.
Chelsea have signed another attacker this season in Romelu Lukaku and the Belgian has been Chelsea’s best attacker this season. However, Lukaku has played alongside another Chelsea player who has been the team’s most ineffective forward this season.
The Most Ineffective Chelsea Forward This Season:
Kai Havertz has scored one goal for Chelsea this season and that came against Liverpool in August. He has failed to form a formidable partnership with Romelu Lukaku and has not really contributed to the Chelsea attack this season.
Thomas Tuchel noticed Havertz’s struggles alongside Lukaku and decided to replace him with Timo Werner. Werner has played well alongside Romelu Lukaku.
Werner assisted Antonio Rudiger against Tottenham then scored against Southampton and he is likely to continue his partnership with Lukaku.
Havertz will now find it hard to break back into the Chelsea attack especially with the return of Mason Mount to the team.
