Ndidi, Etebo & six others who were dropped from Super Eagles squad that will face CAR next month

The Nigeria Football Federation have made public the list of players invited for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against the Central African Republic next month.

Gernot Rohr listed 23 players for the double-header, but there are some notable players missing from the squad.

The first match will hold at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos on Thursday, 7th October, while the second fixture will be played four days later in Douala, Cameroon (presently the ‘home’ of the Central African Republic national teams).

Here are some of the players who featured in last qualifiers, but miss out this time around :

Wilfred Ndidi :

The Leicester City featured in the last game against Liberia, but he's out of the squad that will play against the Central African Republic.

According to reports, Ndidi is injured and will need time to recover.

Oghenekaro Etebo :

The Watford midfielder is not listed for the game. Etebo pick up an injury in Watford training and has been excused from the squad.

Michael Kingsley :

The Bologna midfielder was impressive against Cape Verde back in September, and surprisingly, he's not included in the squad.

Michael Kingsley was replaced by Frank Onyeka who missed the last engagement due to injury.

Zaidu Sanusi :

The FC Porto defender was dropped from the squad, no, thanks to his poor run of form. Sanusi played last game against Liberia and Cape Verde. The 23-year-old was replaced by Rangers left back Calvin Bassey.

Terem Moffi :

The FC Lorient forward didn't make the cut this time around. The 22-year-old made his first competitive appearance for the Super Eagles against Cape Verde in Mindelo.

Henry Onyekuru :

The Greek-based striker found himself out of the squad again after just one game.

Onyekuru played against Cape Verde, but there is no space for him in the attack this time around.

The there two players that missed out are Valentine Ozornwafor and Adeleke Adekunle of Club Sporting Charleroi of Belgium and Abia Warriors of Nigeria respectively.
