United have been in search of head of football for a long time with many names such Edwin Van der Sar, Patrice Evra, Ralf Rangnick, Rio Ferdinand and so on, but the job was later given to John Murtough.
Murtough has been with United since 2013 when he was recruited by United's then boss David Moyes.
He was the club's Head of Development since 2013 and has played a great role in improving the club's academy and youth system.
He also played a great role in the formation of Manchester United women team in 2018 which has become of the best women in English football.
Murtough will now be incharge of recruitment and transfers. He will also help manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in creating strategies which will aid in the club's development and success.
Meanwhile, former United midfielder Darren Fletcher who recently joined the United coaching staff have now been made technical director. He will use his playing experience to aid in the technical areas of the club.
