LEI VS MNU: Fate of Manchester United against Leicester City as Cavani and Fred out of line-up

Cavani and Fred will not be featuring against Leicester City, as he is out on international duty, that will be making Ronaldo to lead the attack along side Pogba in the mid-field.

The international break came at an opportune time for Leicester City as their Premier League (PL) form has taken a sharp nosedive in recent weeks (D2, L2), putting their European credentials in serious doubt even at this early stage. Brendan Rodgers’ side did manage to ‘outfox’ Manchester United in their last clash, though history is stacked against them here as Leicester haven’t won two straight league H2Hs since 1973

Whatever happens, Leicester may need to score at least twice if they’re to give themselves any chance of success after recording just one clean sheet across their last 13 PL matches. They may even need more than two goals as they’ve conceded two goals in three consecutive league outings, last doing so in four straight PL matches in 2017.

Manchester United will be without influential defender Raphael Varane after he picked up an injury during France’s UEFA Nations League success during the international break. In spite of that, the visitors still retain hope of staying in touch with the title-chasing pack if they can halt their mini blip (D1, L1) here against the 2020/21 FA Cup winners.

It’s really anyone’s guess when a team will get the better of this United side on the road as they continue to extend their all-time record unbeaten run of PL away games (W19, D10), whilst they’ve also not conceded more than a single goal in any of their last 15 trips, another club record.

Leicester’s Jamie Vardy will be looking to extend his run of scoring in four of his last five PL appearances. Whilst Cristiano Ronaldo, the record men's international goalscorer, extended his international tally by four goals over his two Portugal appearances during the break.

Leicester boss Rodgers is unbeaten in four of his six meetings with Ole Gunnar Solskjær, despite never keeping a clean sheet (W3, D1, L2).
