Real Madrid’s Odegaard plan is a blow to Arsenal’s ambitions
Arsenal has been impressed by the output of Martin Odegaard in the few games that he has played for them.
He is currently on loan at the Emirates from Real Madrid and could be heading back to Spain at the end of this season.
Arsenal has hopes that he will stay with them beyond the current campaign when his loan spell ends.
Just as they asked for a second season for Dani Ceballos on loan, they were hopeful that they can either sign Odegaard permanently or take him on loan for next season.
However, Mundodeportivo reports that it will not be possible because Los Blancos are planning to use the midfielder to lure Erling Haaland to the Bernabeu.
Both players are best of friends and national teammates and Madrid believes that they will have a better chance of signing him if Odegaard is on their books.
Haaland has all the top European teams chasing after him as he continues to score goals for fun.
In the summer, there might be a big battle for his signature and all his suitors will look for an advantage.
Chelsea 'in battle to sign Bayern Munich's Niklas Sule'
Chelsea are reportedly eyeing up a move for Bayern Munich defender Niklas Sule in the summer transfer window.
The 25-year-old has failed to nail down a regular starting place with the German giants and has seen both Jerome Boateng and David Alaba preferred ahead of him.
Even though Boateng, Alaba and Javi Martinez could all leave the club at the end of the season when their contracts expire, Sule's future also remains uncertain, despite Hansi Flick stating that he remains a valuable member of his squad.
According to German news outlet Abendzeitung Munchen, several top clubs in Europe are interested in the centre-back, with Chelsea currently expressing the most interest in the player.
Blues boss Thomas Tuchel, who is expected to recruit at least one new central defender in the summer transfer window, is understood to be an admirer of Sule and is vying for him 'intensely'.
Bayern have already been busy making plans for next season after confirming the signing of RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano, a deal which will see the Frenchman join the club from July 1.
Sule, who has a contract with the Bundesliga champions until June 2022, has made 14 appearances in the league so far this campaign, as well as starting four times in the Champions League.
Barcelona presidential candidate Joan Laporta makes Erling Haaland transfer promise
Barcelona presidential candidate Joan Laporta has hinted that he is willing to make big moves in the transfer market to reinvigorate the club and has ‘all the cards’ required to land Erling Haaland.
The Catalan giants are enduring a difficult period having been humbled 4-1 at home to Paris Saint-Germain this week in the Champions League while they are nine points adrift of top spot in the Liga title race and need to overturn a two-goal deficit in the Copa del Rey against Sevilla.
Next month, one of the most significant presidential elections in the club’s history will take place with Laporta up against Victor Font and Toni Freixa.
One of Laporta’s big advantages is his contact book which was established during his previous presidency between 2003 and 2010 – a period of great success for Barcelona.
The 58-year-old is good friends with super-agent Mino Raiola, who represents the likes of Paul Pogba, Matthijs de Ligt and Haaland, and for the first time Laporta has made it clear that he is willing to lean on his connections in the transfer market if elected.
‘I have all the cards ready to deal with these situations,’ said Laporta when asked about potential transfers including Borussia Dortmund star Haaland.

Barcelona ‘flatly refused’ €150m offer from Man Utd for star
Barcelona turned down a huge offer from Man Utd for their teenage superstar Ansu Fati, according to reports in Spain.
The 18-year-old has had an impressive breakthrough season at the Nou Camp last term, scoring seven goals in 24 league appearances. He also broke numerous records in the process.
Fati signed a new Barcelona deal in September that will keep him at the Spanish club until 2024 with his old contract running out at the end of the 2021/22 season.
His new deal has a €400m buy-out clause inserted to ward off any interest in their top talent, who has five goals and two assists in ten appearances in all competition this term.
Unfortunately his progress has been stunted this campaign with Fati picking up a serious knee injury in November which ruled him out for four months.
There has been a lot of talk about interest from clubs around Europe but especially Man Utd, who have apparently been ‘stalking’ the winger.
And now Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo have revealed that Man Utd made a bid worth €150m for Fati with ‘then president Josep Maria Bartomeu flatly refused to sell’.
The offer from Man Utd suggests his emergence last season ‘did not go unnoticed among the greats of football’ and Bartomeu realised his ‘great promise’.

Done: Son of former Everton favourite Phil Jagielka signs for Merseyside rivals LIVERPOOL
The son of former Everton captain Phil Jagielka has signed for Merseyside rivals Liverpool.
Zac, 13, is a versatile forward and is well thought of within the club’s academy having joined from a grassroots junior team.
Centre-back Jagielka made 385 appearances for Everton during 12 seasons at Goodison Park, but his boy will be turning out in the red of Liverpool’s Under-14s side.
Zac is said to be an all-round sportsman who also excels at golf, but sources believe he has a future in football.
Jagielka, who was capped 40 times by England, left Everton for hometown club Sheffield United in 2019.
The 38-year-old has played six times this season, including a man-of-the-match performance during the Blades’ 2-1 win at Manchester United last month.
