In what has arguably been one of the most challenging weeks of his otherwise wholly successful reign, Thomas Tuchel has witnessed his side lose their attacking bite and suffer back-to-back defeats. Chelsea slumped to a second successive loss in Turin after Federico Chiesa's second-half strike earned the Old Lady all three points against the reigning European champions. The loss in Italy comes just days after Chelsea were beaten at home to title rivals Manchester City in the Premier League, by the same 1-0 scoreline.
The Blues will be looking to return to winning ways when the host Raph Hasenhüttl's Southampton on Stamford Bridge soil on Saturday afternoon. But there is 50/50 chances of Thomas Tuchel loosing his third game of the season on Saturday, though it is highly unlikely because Tuchel is yet to lose three games in a row in all competitions since succeeding Frank Lampard and he'd be determined to avoid that. But you never can tell, anything can happen in football.
However, the Saints could possibly hand Chelsea a third successive defeat in a row considering the Injury problems Chelsea are facing currently. Thomas Tuchel might be heading into the Premier League action this weekend without three or four of his key players again and this might greatly affect Chelsea's performance against Southampton. There haven't been any good news concerning the Injuries of Kante, James, Pulisic and Mount.
Southampton in their own end are yet to get their first victory of the season, they'll be playing Chelsea with hope to win their first match of the season.
The second reason Chelsea might lose against Southampton is their inability to score goals. The last two games Chelsea has played ended badly. Tuchel's men failed to find the back of the net against Manchester City and Juventus. This is a poor statistics coming from a top Attacking team like Chelsea. Tuchel has one of the most lethal forwards in the EPL. The Blues has world class attackers like Lukaku, Havertz and Hakim Ziyech. But non of these players have scored in Chelsea's last three games. This might still affect Chelsea against Raph Hasenhüttl's team, especially if they get the opportunity to score first against Chelsea.
